Baby loves...Tanner Street Market

Some pictures of the stall and little tot modelling the cashmere apparel. Business was slow at the Hackney City Xmas Market - I'd like to think of it as a marketing exercise (with a lot of mulled wine imbibed).

Next week it's Tanner Street Market on Saturday morning...

Baby loves...cashmere clothing

I've been busy making cashmere baby clothes out of old jumpers - something I thought of doing back in the early days of pregnancy. Its been great learning how to sew at Heba, taking lessons with Anjum, who has run the sewing arm of Heba for over a decade. She's been very patient, helping me develop a pattern, advising me on all sorts of things I would have had no idea about.

I've decided on a deadline - Dec 4. I've got a stall booked at the Hackney City Farm's Dec 4 Christmas craft fair.

I'm thinking of cycling across the bridge to sell at the Saturday Tanner Street Market just up from the amazing Maltby Street food market. http://www.towerbridgeantiquesmarket.co.uk/

Will be interesting to see if they sell....

Baby loves...Frank's

Summertime in London - a grey carpark filled with sculptures at Frank's

Lots of sculpture for the tot to toddle around and lots of nice orange-coloured Aperosol cocktails for mum to sip. The food is really lovely too.

The best time to go I reckon is for a late Sunday lunch with friends to enjoy the nice weather & sunset over the lovely London skyline.

Apparently the Celts cried when their children were born and rejoiced when people died. Makes me curious about their society and customs....

wheel of samsara - everyone must turn it, edgardRobertson

Karma and Rebirth

The wheel of life, or "samsara", is an ancient symbol that has the same meaning in Buddhism and Hinduism. It is symbolises the cycle of birth, life, and death. When one revolution of the wheel is completed, life begins again with rebirth.

Baby loves...Spitalfields City Farm

cup of fresh Fennel tea

The farm is usually very calm, with lots of toys for the little ones, donkeys, various animals & even two treehouses to climb.

but there's no cafe!

so...last week I organised a pop up tea hut for one day. It was fun picking mint, etc from the farm to make fresh herb teas for mums and various passerby.

I'm still deciding whether to run it through the summer...

Baby loves...car boots

last year's art car boot on Brick Lane

The Chiswick Car boot this past weekend - first Sunday of every month - was a real bumper bootie. Scored some retro 70s coats for the tot at bargain prices.

I just came across one every Sunday in Pimlico - looks interesting to sell at:
http://www.capitalcarboot.com/

Course the Art Car Boot is happening Sunday June 19 - will be good to drop in and see my friend Greg at Cinemoi stall

My friend Katie has been buying up goodies France-side in Calais - she says the French version of car booties - brocantes - are a treasure trove. Hmm...I feel a weekend break coming on....here's a list of the dates

Baby loves...Nunhead cemetery

Nunhead cemetery

OK, a little out of the area, but this one is worth noting - I've heard about Brockley's Nunhead Cemetery's open day & have wanted to go for years.

Now that I know its this Saturday (thanks Yui), I thought others might want to know too.

They'll be market stalls, tours & other things to enjoy until 5pm.

http://brockleycentral.blogspot.com/2010/05/nunhead-cemetery-open-day-may-15th-2010.html

p.s. Yummy mummy Yui is now selling her gorgeous handmade, one-off children's clothes at the lovely Bermondsey Fayre shop at the bottom of Bermondsey Street.

Its open midday weekdays/weekends - not on Mondays. They do all sorts of nice classes there too - kids crafts, massage, homemade balms & lotions....

I really like 123 designer boutique on Bethnal Green Road - now its got a lovely 'Bunker' cafe serving afternoon tea open from 12-7pm (just the weekends to start with).

I popped in the other day to have a look & asked whether they were baby/kid-friendly - they said YES INDEED. Hurrah!
